Full introduction to the Lift Truck, type specific to the course.
Identify the main components, controls and their usage.
Identify PPE requirements.
Comply with any instruction from the operators manual, applicable legislation and any other relevant information E.g. Employers and Employees responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (operators manuals must be available to the candidates).
Carry out pre operation checks.
Understand and identify the limitations of use of the Lift Truck load charts etc.
Checks prior to travelling the Lift Truck around site including ground conditions and route planning (if applicable).
Set machine up for travelling (if applicable).
Set machine up for work.
Use of the machine for stacking, loading and use in confined areas.
Park machine safely after use.
Any other issues specific to machine use on site.
On successful completion of the course candidates will be able to operate the Counter Balance Lift truck safely within the machines limits and identify and deal with any hazards they may come across while operating their lift truck.
Assessment: A competency assessment is carried out during the course. The instructor may advise further training before a certificate of competence is issued
Certification: On successful completion of the course the candidate’s will be issued with Hampshire Training Provider Certificates, or their names can be entered onto the:
National Plant Operators Registration Scheme (NPORS) register and a photo ID skills card will be issued. There is an extra cost for this registration
